All Nighters and Your Sleep Debt

Have you noticed that every time you use sleeping time to do something else you feel more tired, which causes you to sleep longer when you eventually do go to sleep? That's because humans need to sleep. It is a vital part of life. Our bodies need to rest, and many important living functions occur when we are asleep.
Pulling an all nighter robs your body and mind off its rest time. The hours spent is not hours that your brain will forget. It's almost like paying for something using credit ñ you will have to pay it back, and in many cases with interest!
For example, if you spent 3 hours watching TV instead of doing your homework you might end up having to spend 3 hours of your sleep time doing your homework. In the morning, you will not feel rested and will most likely feel groggy and drowsy throughout the rest of the day. This is because you 'owe' yourself more time of rest, and until you pay back your sleep time debt, you're not going to be as alert.
So if you have to pull an all nighter, remember to sleep early the next day so you can get the hours of rest back.
